We collect the following categories of information:
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use SSO, your name and profile picture from your Google or Microsoft account. We do not store your SSO passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Google or Microsoft.
Financial configuration data: Budget With Purpose stores the financial information you voluntarily enter, including income sources, bill amounts, debt balances, and expense categories. This data is stored securely in your account and is never shared with third parties.
Usage data: We collect basic usage information such as pages visited, features used, and session duration to improve the product. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual financial records.
Payment information: We use Stripe to process payments. We never store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance.
Communications: If you contact us via email or our contact form, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry and improve our support.
We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your financial configuration data for any purpose other than displaying it back to you within the application. We do not profile, score, or analyze your personal financial data for any commercial purpose.
Your data is stored on Supabase, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS 1.3.
We implement row-level security (RLS) on all database tables, which means your data is isolated at the database level — no other user can access your records, and our application code cannot accidentally expose one user's data to another.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to enable SSO where possible.
Budget With Purpose uses the following third-party services to operate:
Supabase (supabase.com): Database and authentication infrastructure. Your account data and financial configuration are stored on Supabase servers.
Stripe (stripe.com): Payment processing. Stripe handles all subscription billing and stores your payment method details under their own privacy policy.
Google / Microsoft: If you choose to sign in with Google or Microsoft, those providers authenticate your identity and share your email address and name with us. Your use of those services is governed by their respective privacy policies.
Vercel (vercel.com): Application hosting. Your requests to Budget With Purpose are served through Vercel's infrastructure.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties beyond what is necessary to operate these services.
Budget With Purpose uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
Authentication: We use session cookies to keep you logged in. These are essential to the operation of the service and cannot be disabled.
Preferences: We store your theme preference (light/dark/system) locally to maintain your display settings.
Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns. These tools do not track you across other websites and do not use advertising identifiers.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies on paid accounts. Free tier accounts may be subject to advertising cookies if we introduce advertising in the future — we will update this policy and notify users before doing so.
Budget With Purpose currently does not display advertising on any tier. We may introduce advertising on the Free tier in the future.
If we introduce advertising: - We will update this Privacy Policy and notify all Free tier users at least 30 days in advance - Advertising will only appear on Free tier accounts — Pro subscribers will never see ads - We will clearly disclose what data, if any, is shared with advertising partners - You will have the option to upgrade to Pro to remove ads at any time
We will never use your financial configuration data (income, bills, debts) for advertising targeting purposes.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting privacy@budgetwithpurpose.com.
Correction: You may update your account information directly within the application or by contacting us.
Deletion: You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. All associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Portability: You may export your financial configuration data using the export feature within the application (Pro plan) or by contacting us.
Objection: You may object to certain processing of your data by contacting us at privacy@budgetwithpurpose.com.
If you are located in the European Union or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. Please contact us at privacy@budgetwithpurpose.com to exercise any of these rights.
Budget With Purpose is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@budgetwithpurpose.com and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and by posting a notice on the application at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Budget With Purpose after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
